Help required

I have grown 2 luffa vines for the first time this year. I have a couple left to harvest, the begining of the vines look dead but the ends have got a spurt on and have lots of new babies. What do I do? Do I pull them out and plant new ones now? I live on the mid North Coast of NSW.
